It was a very busy day today!

I finished reading Secrets of the Creek today. It had a pretty amazing ending, perhaps you can ask your child about it. Everyone then discussed the parts of the book  they enjoyed and then wrote a response.
In Gym we played a new game called Guard and Attack. It was such fun.
In the afternoon it was counting money and 'making snowballs'. I hope your child can tell you all about this. It would be great to give your child an opportunity to count small sums of money.

Fun Friday

The class presented their poem on assembly beautifully! See the pics on MR H's Blog. In our class meeting (above) Ben was the chairperson and we discussed highlights/issues and suggestions.
In Gym this week the children rotate around stations where the activity is designed to help develop their co-ordination and movement skills.

Immersed in Literacy.

Students were absorbed in their independent reading while I worked with a small group for guided reading.
Kathleen found a corner to read "Drive-in of Doom"
Shayla is nearly finished reading "Charlotte's Web". After recess every day the children do their word sorts. Today after sorting it was partner testing. They are doing a great job with learning weekly words.

Wow! What a Wednesday!! We have been busy, busy, busy all day.

This is the new book I am reading to the children each day. The story is set here on the Sunshine Coast. I hope your child may be able to tell you what has happened so far. The exciting bits are coming
Peer conferencing our writing. After personal editing, a peer may help us to see any errors we missed.
In library this afternoon, Ms Kranenberg shared a funny book and demonstrated how exciting stories can be, when they are read with expression. And then it was time for singing with Mr Angeles!!

Last swimming lesson for Division 6.

Throwing floating devices to someone in trouble in the water.
Encouraging them to get to the side of the pool quickly.
Good job! You made it safely to the side, let me help you out.
The swimmers of the future!?!

Aboriginal Education

After listening to The Owl Witch, Mrs Pugh explained what the children were to do.
Kurt chose to act out the owls from the story.
Chelsea was demonstrating the setting - the owl's hut.
Christopher was being the angry parents.
